Overview

At INPS Shakhbout we offer a broad and balanced curriculum which develops the whole child academically, socially, physically, culturally, and emotionally. Our well-designed curriculum and range of extracurricular activities are designed to ensure students are innovative, creative, independent learners who are well equipped to meet the challenges of the future.

education is like a lantern

We have adopted the California Common Core standards as the educational standards to be used from Kindergarten to grade 8 for English and Mathematics. For Science, we have chosen the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The Ministry of Education’s prescribed curriculum for Arabic, Islamic Education, Moral Education and Social Studies are also followed. These provide grade level objectives which are adapted to meet the needs of our students.

At INPSS we aim to make the students digital citizens. With that in mind the curriculum standards followed for ICT are the ISTE standards. These prepare students to thrive, grow and contribute to a global society with fast changing technology.

We treat each student as individuals and are well equipped to meet the needs of our Gifted and Talented students as well as providing personalized additional support for students who need it. We ensure that each student makes rapid progress and attains the highest academic standards possible.

Kindergarten

The kindergarten program at INPS-Shakhbout is carefully structured in order to strengthen the child’s imagination, creativity, social skills, fine and gross motor skills and sense of self-confidence.

In KG you can be assured that we treat your children as our own and we aim to provide a seamless transition between home and school. We provide a safe, supportive nurturing environment where your child’s social, and emotional needs are met in addition to their academic needs. In KG we have skilled, caring teachers and Learning Support Assistants who are passionate about early childhood education. We believe that children learn best through exploring and by having hands on experiences. We aim to instill a love of learning which will form a firm foundation for their educational journey between home and school.

“Play is often talked about as if it is a relief from serious learning but for children it is serious”

Assessment in KG is continuous with a mixture of observations, and small assignments. Teaching is adapted to meet the needs of each student.

AT INPS Shakhbout we have fabulous facilities especially designed for young learners. We have outdoor spaces with play equipment to help students develop their gross motor skills. Each class is equipped with interactive white boards. We also have a purpose-built gym just for KG use.

Primary

Primary school is where students really learn to fly with their learning. We build on the solid foundations laid in KG and we give students the tools they need to be confident, independent learners.

At INPS we have dedicated teachers who strive to ensure your child grows socially and emotionally as well as academically and develops a thirst for knowledge which will set them up well for the future.

“A good education is a foundation for a better future”

Children in Grades 1 to 3 remain with their homeroom teachers for most of their day, with specialist lessons in Art, PE and ICT.

Students in Primary years (1 to 5) are assessed through continuous assessment throughout each semester as well as through formal tests at the end of this semester. We use this information to ensure activities are given to students which match their needs and will ensure that maximum progress is achieved.

In Primary we have a specialist art room, a gym, a science lab as well as numerous outdoor areas.

Middle & High

In Middle & High schools we aim to develop internationally minded students well prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow. We believe in ensuring students are team players well prepared to be the leaders of the future by teaching key 21st century skills such as collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking, leadership, empathy and understanding as well as tolerance of differences.

From Grade 5 students are taught in single sex classes. We have separate canteen areas and separate playing areas also.

In the Middle & High schools (Grades 6 to 9) all students are provided with their own iPad in order to ensure that we can integrate technology seamlessly into learning. This we believe will enable our students to be confident when facing ever evolving technology.

Starting from grade 4 students are taught by specialist teachers in math, science, languages, PE, Art, and ICT. As students are growing into their teenage years, they receive specialized social and emotional counselling suitable to their age and needs.

The Middle & High schools also benefits from specialist science labs, a computer lab, art rooms as well as a fully stocked library. with both physical and digital books. (outdoor facilities/ gym)

We offer a range of extracurricular activities such as robotics, Mental Arithmetic Programs, sports, and other hands-on activities to ensure students have the opportunity to be exposed to and enjoy a wealth of different activities.

Students also start experimenting with democracy by choosing their class representatives through elections.
